Information about Coronavirus is constantly evolving. Even though infections spread from their humans are rare, some pet owners have reported illness in cats, dogs, ferrets, & hamsters. Public Health Canada recommends we keep our pets safe by following some simple hygiene guidelines.
If You Have Symptoms or are Self-Isolating
Ideally, you should have someone else look after pets if you have been exposed to an infected person or you are showing symptoms. If that’s not possible, the following precautions will help keep your pet healthy.
Keep others safe until your quarantine ends by:
- Keep your cat indoors
- Dogs should be kept in a private, fenced area or walked where they won’t contact other pets or people.

Avoid close contact by not allowing pets to:
- Kiss or lick you
- Share your food
- Sit on your lap or sleep in your bed
Practise good hygiene including:
- Wash your hands often especially before touching or feeding pets
- Cough & sneeze into your elbow, not towards pets
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
Other Animals & Covid-19
So far, there are no reports of livestock & other animals getting sick from Covid-19 but health experts still suggest using the same hygiene practises they’ve recommended for pets.

We already know from experience that our pets help us by lowering stress & improving mood. If you’re not self-isolating, it’s more important than ever to get out for walks with your dog. We’re all safer & healthier in fresh outdoor air 😉
A Message From Canadian Veterinarians
Safe Pet Care

We’ve missed our visitors & can’t wait to welcome you back to our beautiful park. We’ll be adding some safety precautions & minor changes to our booking forms in our effort to keep everyone healthy.
My Jasper Nanny, as always, makes every effort to ensure your pet is safe while in our care. Nannies are following all distancing guidelines to stay healthy. While looking after your pets, nannies use hand sanitizer when hand-wash facilities are not available. We’re supplying nannies with non-medical face masks for situations where distancing is not possible.
While we want to keep pets feeling secure & loved, we will avoid close contact that might spread respiratory droplets to dogs & cats. If pet owners have had any symptoms after a booking, we ask that you notify us immediately even if you had no contact with your nanny.
See you soon!
