When your kids are not in child care, there’s so many fun things to do with them in Jasper that you’ll run out of time before you run out of ideas.

Indoors
We love to spend time in Nature as much as possible. No matter the season, we love to get outside to play almost everyday. Not only do you get vitamin D from the sun but it also helps keep your mood up. Kids are also better able to burn off energy playing outdoors. But some winters when the temperatures drop to bitterly cold levels, we take advantage of Jasper’s indoor resources.
Jasper Fitness & Aquatic Centre
On the colder days we got our exercise at the indoor Jasper Aquatic municipal swimming pool. They’re nicely set up for all ages of kids beginning with family change rooms. Two shallow wading pools with slightly warmer water than the separate 6-lane pool. One shallow pool also a water slide but be sure to check the schedule before making promises to your kids 😉

Parent Link
If you run out of ideas, a great place to find out about other activities or connect with other families is the Parent Link Playroom and the Parent Link indoor playgroup. Parent Link operates year round and is opened daily except Sundays (schedule varies & can be found on their Facebook page). We love the natural wooden toys and craft times.
I do enjoy doing crafts at home but kids love both the change-up in routine with different materials at Parent link plus having other kids to inspire creativity. I have to admit it’s also nice to make a mess at Parent Link instead. They don’t worry about finding those little sparkle bits all over the place days after you’ve finished a craft.
Jasper Museum
Other places we enjoy include the Jasper Museum. Often they have different exhibitions. We also enjoy going to art show openings without the kids.. even though they are welcome on those nights too.
Jasper Municipal Library

We’re so lucky in Jasper to have this beautiful space! You might not automatically think of the library as an activity but kids sure enjoy their programs.
Saturday Story & Craft
Besides having an amazing collection of books & videos, the Jasper Municipal Library also has scheduled programs for kids. On Saturday morning at 11 am, they have drop-in Story Time and crafts. You’ll want to check their web site for special presentations by guest readers.
Jasper Activity Centre
We sure do love our Winter sports! When it’s too cold (or hot) outdoors to skate, we take it indoors to the Jasper Activity Centre. The ice rink offers public skate times from Thursday through Sunday but you might want to check with them to make sure the schedule hasn’t changed. Skates and hockey gear can be purchased or rented from the Jasper Source for Sports.
Outdoors
Swim Outside Year Round

Would you believe we can swim outdoors winter and summer in Jasper?! Well you can at Jasper Park Lodge. And if swimming isn’t your thing, there’s a great drop in play room. It’s really handy if you’d like to go for dinner. You can book a nanny to keep your kids entertained while you have a relaxing grown up dinner. The lodge supplies towels & some pool toys like pool noodles & foam balls. You’ll need to bring your own water wings if you use those. There is no life guard on duty so you’ll want to look out for your own children’s safety.
Skating

There are lots of outdoor rinks in Jasper so you’ll want to bring along your skating gear & helmets. Another option is to rent equipment. Jasper Source fo Sports offers ice and figure skate rentals but you’ll want to check with them to make sure your child’s size is available.
Sledding

Now that the weather is getting warmer again we can get out sledding at the Centennial Park. I recommend bringing your sleds and helmets to get out to play here!
… and more
There’s so many things to do here that I could go on forever. I’ll share more later. Feel free to get in touch or comment if I’ve missed your favourite activities.
